Terms of Service
Effective date: April 25, 2026
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Cooking Videos ("the service") you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please don't use the service.
2. The service
Cooking Videos lets you submit a public video URL (Xiaohongshu, YouTube, etc.), and uses AI to download it, transcribe Chinese audio, translate subtitles to English, extract a recipe, and generate English narration. Results are stored under your account and visible at the video URL.
3. Account
You sign in with email (one-time code) or Google SSO. You are responsible for the email account associated with sign-in. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms or that we reasonably believe are involved in fraud, abuse or illegal activity.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- submit content you don't have the right to use, or that infringes another person's copyright, trademark, or privacy;
- submit illegal, harmful, sexually explicit, or hateful content;
- attempt to bypass rate limits, credit checks, or other safeguards;
- use scrapers, headless browsers, or other automated tools to access the service;
- resell access to the service or use it to provide a competing service;
- reverse engineer or attempt to extract our source code.
5. Credits and payment
- Pricing is in Hong Kong dollars (HKD). Each video processed costs 10 credits.
- New accounts receive a one-time signup bonus of 100 credits, valid for 7 days.
- Top-up packs are available in multiple sizes (currently 100 / 300 / 1000 credits). Purchased credits are valid for 365 days from purchase. Pack sizes and prices are listed on the pricing page.
- Payments are handled by Stripe and subject to Stripe's own terms.
- We may change pricing at any time; existing credits remain valid at their original ratio.
6. Refunds
- Failed processing: if a video fails to process, the 10 credits for that attempt are automatically credited back to your balance — no action needed.
- All other purchases are final. Top-up purchases are non-refundable once the credits land in your account, except as required by applicable law. We may grant exceptions at our sole discretion in cases of clear error (e.g., duplicate accidental purchase within minutes); contact [email protected] from your account email if you believe an exception applies.
- Signup bonus credits: not refundable for cash — they are a free welcome gift, not a purchase.
- Chargebacks: filing a chargeback for credits legitimately delivered to your account is a breach of these Terms. We will reverse the credits, may suspend your account, and reserve the right to dispute the chargeback.
7. Intellectual property
- The platform itself (code, design, brand) is owned by us.
- You retain whatever rights you have in the URLs and content you submit. By submitting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to download, store, transcribe, translate, transform and serve that content for the purpose of running the service.
- AI-generated content (English subtitles, recipe text, narration audio) is produced for your use of the service. You may use it personally, but you should not assume it is free of errors or fit for commercial republication.
- The original videos and underlying recipes belong to their original creators. We do not claim ownership over them.
8. Copyright takedown
If you believe a video on the service infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with: the URL on our service, evidence of your rights, and your contact details. We aim to respond within 72 hours and remove infringing content where the claim appears valid.
9. AI and accuracy disclaimer
Subtitles, translations, recipes, and narration are generated by AI and may contain errors, including ingredient substitutions, mistranslated quantities, omitted steps, or food-safety issues. Use at your own risk. The service does not provide medical, dietary, allergy, or food-safety advice. If you have any allergies, dietary restrictions, or health conditions, do not rely on the AI output — verify against the original video.
10. Service "as is"
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific video will process successfully.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Hong Kong law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the greater of (a) HK$200, or (b) the total amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
12. Termination
You can stop using the service or delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the service in a way that risks harm to us or other users. On termination, sections 7 (IP), 11 (liability) and 14 (governing law) survive.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced on this page; the "effective date" at the top is always the current version. Continued use after a change means you accept the new Terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong courts.
